It’s Worth It!

Aug 4th, 2010

It’s a tremendous feeling when you try to achieve something special that requires that little extra effort; it makes it all worthwhile!’

If you want to achieve something that’s really important and of value to YOU, who cares how long it takes? Everything is possible to achieve and while you may have to go through a lot to get there, it’s worth it in the end.

Most people give up when the going gets tough, but you don’t need any guarantees that it will be achieved as long as you feel that the outcome is worth it. Just doing it and living with it has its own value and power.

When you feel that it´s worth it, when you do something in combination with faith, passion, endurance and focus, you just can’t fail!

Is a Problem Really a Problem?

July 26th, 2010

I believe that a problem doesn’t necessarily need to be something horrible and depressing. How can I say this? Well, if you think about it, a problem is just something that exists before the solution is found. It means that – if you allow it – you can get yourself into a better situation when you resolve the issue.

So many big events, changes and breakthroughs have started because a problem occurred. Under these circumstances, if it’s treated as just something that happens before the solution is found and effort is put into resolving it, the end result is often much better than before the problem occurred. As an example, many people who’ve lost their work are back in the situation they were in before choosing that job. This means they can re-think what they want to do and even maybe start up something they have always dreamed about. The ‘problem’ has therefore turned out to be a positive thing!

There are many more situations like this, so please try to identify some situations in your own life where this has happened, or situations where it could happen

Passion

July 12th, 2010

Make it a habit to always do whatever you do with passion! Many of you may now be thinking – how can I do that when I’m sometimes forced to do things I don’t really like – at work, doing gardening, visiting relatives or whatever?

This is the point! You need to try to do things you like and if you don’t like your work – then change it! If you don’t like gardening, change it so you don’t have a garden you need to tend or hire someone to do it for you. If you don’t like to be around your relatives, tell your partner and then try to resolve it somehow!

When this is done you really can do what I said – do everything you do with passion, then you will find that your life will be more valuable.

Do everything with passion

Do You See Possibilities or Do You See Only Problems?

July 12th, 2010

I’ve heard it said many times throughout my career within personal development, that a winner (or an optimist) sees possibilities in all problems whereas a loser (or a pessimist) sees problems in all possibilities. What a great description from real life!

My definition of a problem is when something has happened and now you need to resolve it. When a so-called problem occurs you can easily take control of the outcome yourself. If you start to think how to solve it and how to react in order to get the best outcome, you’re in the solution stage. If you blame others, circumstances and things outside of your control (a horrible thought) then you are absolutely not in the solving stage.

I will end with a story that I have written about in some other texts; there have been about three hundred texts before this one.

It was in the early thirties when two sales people who sold shoes decided they wanted to expand their businesses into Africa. Both visited Africa where they immediately set about finding costumers and each went their own way. Within a few days both of them sent a telegram back home to their offices.

-          The first person wrote: Please cancel all shipments of shoes as there is no market for shoes here, nobody is wearing them!

-          The second person wrote: Triple the amount of shoes in the shipment; there is a huge market here as nobody is wearing them!

How would you think and react in this situation?

If You’re Successful Does That Mean You’re Happy?

July 5th, 2010

I heard this question on the radio a few days ago, and the person who was asked it was very confused in his mind about it. Personally I’m quite clear about what I think.

First we need to define what success is. To me it’s when you do things you really value highly in your life (not what anyone else thinks you should value highly) and you do it better than you did it the last time. It also was done from your point of view and within your capability, not what somebody else might have done.

If you do things you really love and you do them better and better, then you have success – and if you have success in this way – then you’re most likely to also be happy.

So my straight and simple answer is: YES, you are happy if you have success in your life.

Forgiving Makes Everything Good

July 2th, 2010

Finally! Some days ago I read in our local newspaper about some research undertaken about forgiving. It was in fact a whole page, and while I won’t go into it in detail I will give you the conclusions. Scientists have discovered that the principle of forgiving and asking forgiveness is positive for both your physical and your mental health.

For many years, as well as writing about I’ve also made speeches and held seminars about, the importance of forgiving. To me, to forgive is an absolutely selfish act! If you don’t forgive the wrong that’s been done to you, you’ll remain in the bad mood which it causes and you won’t be able to release the pain. You will never be able to move on in your life with joy and peace of mind, unless you get rid of what destroys your emotional life.

Forgive and move on in life; it might seem hard in the beginning, but I promise you that in the long term the joy of what you gain is much greater than if you continue to live with the bitterness and even – with revenge in mind.

People and Class

June 28th, 2010

Two people can enter a room at different times and while one of them goes un-noticed, the other one – everybody notices! How can this be? Has one of them got something that the other doesn’t have? Yes! I would also certainly add that it has nothing to do with material stuff, it’s about the spirit of the person and, through that, the class the person has.

One of my great inspirers Les Brown once said – ”I once saw a man who had no shoes and I saw another who had no class!” Despite lack of money and other materialistic assets it’s important to have class. That’s what will take you through the difficult times that occur in everyone’s life – sooner or later.

You can have money, titles, material assets etc, but nobody can give you class – only you yourself can create that. You can do it through, for instance, always thinking what you can give instead of what you can gain from a certain situation; in other words, by having a good ATTITUDE. Just imagine if all the greedy and selfish peoples that have caused this so-called financial crisis we’ve faced over the past couple of years, had shown more class. This crisis would probably never have occurred!

Why is it so that so many people exhibit a lack of class? I know it isn’t easy to give a precise answer to that, but I believe that it’s so often easier to see class in terms of superficial things. If you want to be seen and have ‘position’ in life, too many of us believe that the only way that counts is to have money and power. The main thing these people miss is that you can easily lose money (easy come – easy go) but if you’ve developed yourself your class will show, as long as you remain aware of what you’re doing!

Do you or someone you know have class?

Luck and Success

June 23th, 2010

Successful people are not born under a lucky star, they have only one view of life and a behavior that continually reward them with positive experiences.

Now I take a little midsummer holiday and will be back with next post June 28.  TO ALL: NICE MIDSUMMER

Increased Self Esteem Through Personal Development and Positive Attitude

June 20th, 2010

Often your sub-conscious tells you that you can’t do this or you can’t manage that, so what will happen if you fail? Just imagine if you fail the very first time you do something! Does this mean that you will automatically fail the next time you try to do it? Don’t you think you learn by making mistakes?

Most of us have thousands of reasons why we can’t manage to do things, but normally just a few reasons why we can manage; we know thousands of things we can’t do and few we can do.

So many people facing opportunities in life immediately start to think about all the things that could possibly go wrong, instead of trying to find out how best to succeed. The biggest reason for people not daring to live their dreams is that they don’t dare to expand their comfort zone.

Can this be resolved? Yes, absolutely! If you on regularly basis expose yourself to any kind of personal development your positive attitude level will increase and that will certainly help you.

Being Against Something

June 18th, 2010

A while ago we came through the 1st of May demonstrations where people with many different points of view were demonstrating against something that was the opposite from their beliefs. For a few seconds, just think how different it would have been if they were demonstrating instead for what they believed in.

Don’t demonstrate against anything. For example – don’t demonstrate against war but for peace, against injustice but for justice, against greed but for generosity and so on. I’m sure you can figure out many more examples and I would argue that when you do so, then you will find out (if you haven’t already) that it feels good to think this way. You will find that demonstration against creates devastating, negative thinking and acting for something develops the mind and creates positivity.

Being for something rather than against something shows a good attitude!
