Your Attitude Determines Whether it’s an Open or a Closed Door.
March 7th, 2010
I’d like to start with a quote from Alexander Graham Bell:
”When one door closes another opens, but we often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
Aren’t there many times in life where you see all the hard and negative things, and through this you miss all the opportunities that occur throughout your life? Now many of you may claim that this is nonsense and say “But just look at me – I’ve not had a life filled with opportunities!”
This is exactly what I mean! You’ve already had many opportunities in life, but you’ve chosen to focus on the negative ones and this has made you miss them all. Your focus has meant that you’ve looked at the closed door instead of the open one.
It’s absolutely true that life can often be both hard and cruel. I too have been through many hard times and what I considered to be totally slammed doors. But believe me – for every closed or slammed door there are always open ones, even if it can be hard see and understand.
So how do our Attitudes affect this? Well, much in your life is determined by your Attitude, including your general well-being – for instance, your Attitude towards failures, an open mind, taking responsibility for your life etc. (This list could have been very long!)
My message is: However dark and hopeless it seems to be, there’s always a light if your attitude is to believe that there is.
Finally: There was a great singer and songwriter in Sweden. His name was Björn Afselius and in one of his songs there was a line: ”Above the clouds it is always light, but it can be hard to believe when you are never allowed to see it”
